I plan on watching the race on the 20th, and I'll bring this up there if I remember who to talk to, but I'd like to do a little work on the website to try to streamline it a little, and to help with how people get pre-registered. This is the list of things I'd like to do if I don't make it to the race:
1 ) Convert site to an IFrame to ease expansion and updates; the site layout already can support such a change 2 ) Create an SQL database and implement some software to enable automated preregistration 3 ) Correct a couple inconsistent menu items (The "Forum" button doesn't appear on all pages) 4 ) Implement a CSS script to ease creation of new pages and/or different styles (At least, my software didn't detect a CSS) 5 ) Either Merge Sponsorships and Homepage to increase the visibility of our sponsor(s), or make an IFrame on the main page to the Sponsor page to ease changes to our sponsors. 6 ) Prepare several forms in a hidden area to make preregistration uniform for both newcomers and previous entrants to pre-register with. 7 ) Create a form letter that automatically fills out the yellow forms for preregistered racers. 8 ) Create e-mail and opt-out boxes to allow people to be included in race reminders and region newsletter(?), and to conform with CAN-SPAM Act(All mass e-mails from an entity within the United States must include a functional opt-out link inside and/or simple instructions to do such within the body). 9 ) Figure out what the heck's wrong with that gallery software, since it's still more goofed up than my car.
I've already done some research and I think everything can be implemented with zero-cost changes (assuming DreamHost will support everything like I assume it will), which I theorize will make the job of working the website AND preparing the yellow forms for early registration that much simpler. I'll try to make it to the race to answer any questions and ask permission to begin work on the site, but I'll put this in the forum in case I sleep in.
